Deputy Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), George Krobea Asante, has proposed that President John Dramani Mahama tap into the expertise of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.

According to him, the former Vice President is blessed with innovative ideas, coupled with strong problem-solving skills on issues of national interest.

Mr. Asante, therefore, urged President Mahama not to hesitate in approaching Dr. Bawumia to seek and draw from his many ideas to implement in his administration.

“When Dr. Bawumia brought the Gold for Oil initiative, you people [NDC] lambasted him but you find wisdom in that today.

“You should have apologised to him by now for the backlash and that behavior and seek for contributions from him because he [Dr. Bawumia] is the originator…..,” he said in a panel discussion on the Angel Morning Show.

The NPP communications director made this proposal on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, during his submission on the 10% tariff imposition on imports from all countries into the United States of America, including Ghana.

He emphasized that the leadership of the Akufo-Addo and Dr. Bawumia administration in absorbing external shocks, particularly their management of the country during the COVID-19 pandemic attests to his argument and suggestions.

Mr. Asante, however, expressed skepticism about whether John Mahama would consider his proposals, claiming that members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have questionable stances and understanding on national issues.

“You see, the NDC have become different breeds of Ghanaians because their utterances and behavior is unacceptable,” he expressed.
