The National Youth Authority (NYA) has highlighted the purpose of its National Apprenticeship Programme, launched by President John Dramani Mahama, stating that the initiative aims to empower Ghanaian youth.

It further explained that the programme is a pro-poor intervention designed to equip young people in Ghana with skills for sustainable livelihoods.

An NYA’s statement, dated Tuesday, May 27, 2025, reads:

“We wish to state unequivocally that the National Apprenticeship Programme, launched by H.E. John Dramani Mahama in Tamale, is a pro-poor intervention intended to empower Ghanaian youth with skills for sustainable livelihoods. As clearly communicated by the President during the launch, the forms are not to be sold under any circumstances.”

The NYA issued this clarification following reports that certain individuals were allegedly involved in the unauthorized sale of application forms for the programme.

The Authority strongly condemned such actions, stating that it had launched swift investigations into the matter. It warned:

“Any person or group found extorting money from prospective applicants under the guise of facilitating access to this programme will face the full rigours of the law.”

The statement also urged all applicants and community members to report such incidents to the nearest NYA office or local authorities.

“The forms are to be accessed freely at the designated NYA district and regional offices, as well as online via the official NYA platforms https://www.nya.gov.gh/downloads.”

The NYA reaffirmed its continued commitment to transparency, fairness, and accountability in the implementation of youth development initiatives across the country.
