Two members of the Accra Hearts of Oak team have emerged as winners of separate awards for May and June in the concluded 2024/25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season.

They are goalkeeper and club captain Benjamin Asare, along with his immediate past head coach, Aboubakar Ouattara.

Asare won the Ex-National Goalkeepers Union award, while the Burkinabe national was adjudged NASCO Coach of the Month for the period under review.

“Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has been named the Ghana Premier League’s best goalkeeper for May/June by the Ex-National Goalkeepers Union,” the Ghana Football Association announced on its website.

His composure and confidence between the posts helped Hearts of Oak secure 13 points out of a possible 15 in the month, winning four and drawing one of five matches.

He kept three clean sheets, including back-to-back shutouts against Legon Cities and FC Samartex 1996, and conceded just one goal.

As a result, “Asare will receive a pair of gloves, a branded towel, water bottle, and T-shirt from the Ex-National Goalkeepers Union (NEGO).”

In the coaches’ category of the NASCO Ghana Premier League Coach of the Month for May/June, Aboubakar Ouattara of Hearts of Oak emerged as the winner.

Under his guidance, the Phobians had a remarkable month, winning four and drawing one of five league matches, scoring seven goals and conceding just one.

This impressive performance saw Hearts of Oak rise to third place on the league table with 58 points.

“As winner of the award, Aboubakar Ouattara will receive a 42-inch television set from Electroland Ghana Limited,” the GFA indicated.
