The Eastern South Regional Police Command has arrested two suspects for allegedly plotting to assassinate a Chief in the Eastern Region.
The suspects, identified as Emelia Akua Asor and Butuakwa Seth, were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation.
According to a statement posted on X, their arrests followed the uncovering of a plan to eliminate the Chief ahead of his first Royal Durbar, scheduled for October 17, 2025, at Akyem Kwabeng.
Acting on intelligence received on October 11, 2025, a police intelligence team infiltrated the suspects’ network.
During the operation, it is believed that the suspect Emelia Akua Asor offered GHC 50,000.00 to undercover officers to kill the Chief and another woman alleged to be lined up for installation as Queen Mother.
The police further explained that she instructed suspect Butuakwa Seth to assist in identifying the residences of the intended victims.
It is believed that Butuakwa Seth led the officers to the homes of both the Chief and the woman and provided a photograph of the Chief to facilitate the planned act.
The suspects also promised an additional GHC 50,000.00 upon completion of the crime. Both suspects are currently in police custody, assisting investigations, and will be presented before the court.
The Eastern South Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents, especially traditional leaders in the region.
The statement was issued on Sunday, October 12, and signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere, Head of the Public Affairs Unit.
