President of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, has congratulated Ghana’s senior national men’s team, the Black Stars, following their historic qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana’s qualification for the global competition slated for Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America was sealed on Sunday, October 12, 2025, after defeating Comoros in Accra.
This marks the fifth time the West African country will appear on the world stage (2006, 2010, 2014, 2022, and 2026).
In a heartfelt message, FIFA boss Gianni Infantino praised the team’s dedication, passion, and commitment to representing Ghana on the world’s biggest stage.
“Congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the 5th time in history. Your fans will bring colour, style, and passion to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever in 2026,” he expressed in a video.
Mr. Infantino added that the footballing world hopes to see a Ghana team whose performance will reflect and echo that of the Stephen Appiah-led 2010 squad.
“We expect that your team will establish more global stars to follow in the footsteps of the famous team that made the quarterfinals of the tournament in South Africa in 2010.”
The final tournament draw is scheduled to take place on December 5.
