Supporters and self-acclaimed task force of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Ejisu constituency on Monday, March 16, 2026, stormed the office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in protest against what they describe as an unfair managerial appointment.
The group, identifying themselves as members of the party’s task force in the constituency, forcibly locked the office of the newly appointed NHIS Manager, Mr. Alexander Nimako, insisting “he is not an indigene of the area.”
According to the aggrieved supporters, the appointment disregarded local participation and failed to reflect the interests of the people of Ejisu.
In their argument, they suggested that a local resident should have been considered for the position to strengthen community involvement and advance the party’s goals.
“We need an indigene from Ejisu someone who truly understands the needs of our people and can serve our interests. We deserve better,” one of the protesters said.
The group further alleged that the appointment was made without consulting party members in the constituency.
