‎Hilife musician, Akwaboah Jnr has revealed that he does not use any substances before writing songs.
‎
‎He made this revelation during an interview on Anopa Bofo on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, while responding to a question from the host, Saddick Adams.
‎
‎Akwaboah pointed out that the only thing that energises him is when his keyboard produces the right tone, which inspires a song.
‎
‎“I don’t take substances. I use my natural instincts, when I get the right tone on the keyboard, I feel charged, when I’m in that state, I know I have everything I need,” he said.
‎
‎According to him, many musicians have their own reasons for using substances, and he believes some feel the need to take something before writing.
‎
‎He also disclosed his routine: “I write my songs in a very conducive environment. Musicians don’t usually sleep, and we don’t go to the studio in the morning because of the noise.
‎
‎”I prefer going in the evening and staying until dawn, that’s when songs flow because there are fewer distractions. I usually leave the studio around 6 a.m.”
