Gold Fields Ghana has extended its congratulations to Tarkwa-based Medeama Sporting Club after they emerged as winners of the ongoing 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League (GPL) season, despite having a game in hand.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko and his side were crowned winners over the weekend following a 5-2 victory over Hearts of Oak, enabling them to win their second Premier League title after the 2022/2023 league season.
In a statement, the company congratulated the Yellow and Mauve lads, describing their outstanding performance as a testament to “resilience, discipline, and unwavering commitment to excellence.”
“Gold Fields is proud to be associated with the success story of Medeama SC. To the Management and players of Medeama SC, we say Ayekoo,” the mining firm stated.
The company expressed pride in its partnership with the club and highlighted the investment made in the team over a decade and still counting.
“For over 12 years, we proudly partnered and sponsored Medeama, investing over US$1.4 million to support the club’s growth and development in diverse ways. Our support has included a state-of-the-art team bus and the construction of the 8,400-seat Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium, in 2024, home ground of Medeama SC,” Gold Fields underscores, expressing pride to be part of such a journey with Medeama.
The company reaffirmed its broader commitment to sports development in Ghana, stating: “Gold Fields remains committed to supporting sports development in Ghana, including our continued support for the Black Stars, and recently the Black Queens, the Black Challenge, and the Women’s Premier League.”
The statement further emphasized the role of sports in national life, indicating the unique ability to foster national unity and inspiration.
