The Nifahene of the Akuapem Traditional Council, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V, has pledged strong support for the Akuapem Tech Summit 2026 initiative, declaring his readiness to contribute both his time and resources toward the realisation of the Akuapem Silicon Ridge vision.
His endorsement came during a courtesy engagement at his palace in Adukrom, where the Akuapem Technology Secretariat formally presented its Governing Council proposal and Summit Policy Framework as part of efforts to secure traditional backing for the initiative.
The visit formed part of broader stakeholder engagement ahead of the inaugural Akuapem Tech Summit, scheduled for October 1, 2026, at the Peduase Valley Resort in the Eastern Region.
The delegation from the Akuapem Technology Secretariat was led by Acting Chairman Benjamin Ofori and included Acting Director of Operations, Mr. Ayeh Akuffo, as well as Amb. Nana Aku Sika Okani (II), Acting Director for Sponsorships and Partnerships.
During the engagement, Mr. Ayeh Akuffo outlined the Secretariat’s long-term vision of transforming Akuapem into a leading technology and innovation hub.
“Our vision is to transform Akuapem into a thriving technology and innovation hub by empowering young people with digital skills, entrepreneurship opportunities, and access to emerging technologies,” he stated. He further emphasised that the Akuapem Tech Summit is designed as a sustained development platform rather than a one-off event.
“The Akuapem Technology Secretariat is not just organising a summit; we are building a long-term development platform that will attract investment into education, agriculture, and innovation across the Akuapem Ridge,” he added.
The Secretariat explained that the Akuapem Silicon Ridge agenda seeks to harness technology as a catalyst for youth empowerment, job creation, and regional economic transformation.
Responding to the presentation, Osuodumgya Otutu Ababio V welcomed the initiative and formally accepted his appointment to the Governing Council of the Akuapem Tech Summit.
“I am ready to contribute my time and resources to support this vision and ensure its success,” the Nifahene stated.
He urged the Secretariat to remain focused on its objectives and ensure that the initiative is sustained beyond its initial development phase.
“Do not allow this initiative to end with the five-year plan. Build an institution that will continue to serve Akuapem for generations,” he advised.
The Nifahene further assured the delegation of his commitment to support the success of the Akuapem Silicon Ridge vision through guidance, influence, and available resources.
The meeting was attended by members of the Nifahene’s council and witnessed by key dignitaries, including the Member of Parliament for Okere, Hon. Daniel Nana Addo-Kenneth, alongside delegates from Pennsylvania in the United States.

Inspired by the visionary leadership of the Okuapehene, His Majesty Oseadeɛyo Nana Kwasi Akuffo Ababio III, the Akuapem Tech Summit seeks to promote innovation, digital inclusion, youth empowerment, and sustainable regional development.
The initiative is designed to bridge the digital divide across Akuapem by expanding access to technology, entrepreneurship opportunities, digital literacy, and multi-stakeholder collaboration across government, industry, academia, investors, and the diaspora.
The Akuapem Silicon Ridge vision positions the region as an emerging innovation hub in Ghana and West Africa, with long-term potential for economic transformation and youth development.
