Members of the National Executive Committee of the United Cadres Front of Ghana, a wing of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), is asking delegates to vote against Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, a presidential hopeful in its forthcoming primaries.
The cadres move follows an an interlocutory injunction against the party’s upcoming presidential and parliamentary primaries filed by Dr. Duffuor.
Dr. Duffuor’s interlocutory injunction at the court is seeking to postpone the exercise scheduled for Saturday, May 13, 2023, having said there are discrepancies in the voter album.
Expressing concern about the development, the United Cadres Front of the NDC in a statement said Dr. Duffuor and his camp have shown gross anti-cadre sentiments which have the capacity to destroy the very foundations which have been built through hardwork and sweat.
By the statement, they are “asking all delegates for the 13 May 2023 NDC presidential and parliamentary primaries to call the bluff of Dr Kwabena Duffuor and vote massively for H.E. John Dramani Mahama to become the flagbearer of the NDC.”
According to the national chairman, Comrade Shine Gaveh, the group said they are gravely upset by the action of Dr Duffuor, hence the appeal to delegates to vote massively for former President Mahama.
“By this statement, therefore, we are calling on all cadres across the length and breadth of the country, to mobilise and organise, as never before, to whip up enthusiasm in the delegates to vote massively for John Dramani Mahama, come 13 May 2023.
“We, however, entreat the functional executive committee as well as the election directorate and legal team of the NDC, to, as a matter of urgency, ensure that the elections come off as scheduled,” the statement concluded.
