Gov’t to engage relatives of Ghanaian caught in Russia-Ukraine war

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has invited guardians, parents and relatives of all Ghanaian Nationals living in Ukraine to a meeting.

The meeting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the Accra international conference center.

According to the Ministry in a communique, the planned meeting is part of government efforts to discuss the prevailing issues towards addressing the situation in Ukraine.

“In view of the prevailing precarious security situation in Ukraine, which has necessitated the evacuation of Ghanaian nationals, among others, from the country to safety, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, is cordially inviting all parents, guardians, or relatives of Ghanaian nationals in Ukraine to a meeting,” the Ministry said.

Meanwhile, the first batch of affected persons in Ukraine have been moved by land to Romania, with others set to be evacuated to countries such as Hungary, Moldova, Belarus, Slovakia among others.
