Reggae dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale has been fined to the tune of GHc2,000 for faking a gun attack in October 2021.

The ‘On God’ hitmaker was fined after the artiste changed his plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty’ in Circuit Court 4.

Shatta Wale would serve a three-month jail term should he fail to honour the terms of the fine.

Lawyer for the artiste, Jerry Avenogbor, informed the court, presided over by His Worship, Emmanuel Essandoh, that Shatta Wale is a first-time offender and has regretted his actions.

It is recalled that Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah, rendered an apology to his fans and the general public over a hoax gun attack.

The musician was reported to have been shot by unknown gunmen and receiving treatment in the emergency unit of a medical facility of an Accra-based hospital by one of his aide’s – Nana Dhope.

However, Shatta Wale disclosed in a Facebook post that the whole incident was just a prank.

“To my fans am sorry but I will have to fight this fight alone and get it done…”

He also apologized to his team members – Deportee and Dope – for taking their phones to feign the attack on social media.
