Isaac Dogboe loses bid to grab vacant WBO title

A former Ghanaian WBO super bantamweight champion, Isaac Dogboe suffered a defeat to Cuban boxer Robeisy Ramirez and missed out on the opportunity to claim the vacant WBO featherweight title.

Robeisy secured a unanimous points decision in his favour and made him the new king at the WBO featherweight division in the 12-round bout early Sunday, April 2, 2023 at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After a keenly contest between the two highly motivated fighters, the judge’s scorecard announced a 119-108, 118-109 and 117-110 for the Cuban southpaw boxer.

This means, the two-time Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez secures the vacant WBO featherweight title making him a world champion.

“I now call myself a world champion. As for who’s next, I want all the world champions. I’ll even take Joet Gonzalez. Give me Luis Alberto Lopez or Michael Conlan, whoever wins their fight,” the new WBO featherweight champion told ESPN after the bout.
