The Overlord of the Dagbon Traditional Area, Ya Naa Abubakari Mahama II has entreated flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice – President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to treat the National Democratic Congress leader John Mahama as equal as his brother.
According to the traditional ruler, the need to conduct a respectful and clean campaign leading up to the 2024 general elections, is necessary for maintaining the country’s coexistence peace.
Ya Naa Abubakari Mahama II offered the advice to Dr. Bawumia when he paid a courtesy call on him.
In his address, he underscored the importance of maintaining unity and harmony in the country, irrespective of political affiliations and acknowledged both candidates as sons of Dagbon.
“It’s a crucial opportunity for us to showcase our maturity, competence, honesty, and commitment to Ghana’s progress. You are my son, Dr. Bawumia, and John Mahama, your competitor, is also my son. Both of you are fully committed to this election,” he stated.
This, the Dagbon Overlord reminded Dr. Bawumia and Mr. Mahama to see each other as brothers rather than enemies in line of their campaigning activities.
“He is not your enemy or rival, but your brother, your elder brother. As Northerners, we have already won the elections. Whoever wins this trophy is coming home,” Yaa Naa stressed.
