The Mobile Money Agents Association of Ghana has announced the implementation of a temporary measure limiting cash withdrawals to a maximum of GH¢1,000 per transaction.

According to the Momo Agents, the decision which takes effect from December 1, 2023, seeks to secure what it described as “fair compensation” for their rendered services.

A joint statement issued by four MoMo Associations; namely, the Northern MoMo Agents Association of Ghana (NOMAAG), the Mobile Money Advocacy Group (MOMAG), the Mobile Money Agents Association Ghana (MMAAG), and the ABAG announced the decision on Thursday, November 30.

“Effective 1st December 2023, a temporary measure will be implemented, restricting cash withdrawals to a maximum of GH¢1,000.00 per transaction to customers for all Mobile Money Agents across various service provides.

“During this period, we will continue to actively engage with service providers to address the commission review concerns raised. If, within the one-month period, there is no favourable adjustment, we will regrettably have to implement further action plans,” the statement explained.

The statement emphasized that the move is to ensure fair compensation for the dedicated agents.

The associations called for support from stakeholders, including its cherished customers to support their cause for the targeted fair-compensation for MoMo agents.
