A devastating fire has engulfed the entire apartment of Ghanaian musician, Kwadwo Antwi at Hong Kong, near Kwashieman in the Ablekuma North Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

The inferno that started around 6P:00pm on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the apartment that is sited behind the Bank of Africa lasted for close to two hours.

The apartment of Ghanaian music legend Kwadwo Antwi situated at Kwashiman Hong-Kong engulfed by fire.

The studios of the musician and other properties worth thousands of Ghana cedis were also burnt into ashes.

Sadly, the studio housed newly purchased ultramodern equipment for the studio.

Occupants of the apartment who escaped unhurt drew the attention of neighbors who rushed to the scene and prevented the fire from spreading to nearby houses before the arrival of the GNFS.

A swift response from personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) also helped a lot.

A male resident revealed that the fire started in one of the corridors close to the kitchen.

Narrating the incident to Angelonline.com.gh, the Assistance Divisional Officer, Grade 1 of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) at the Public Relations Department, Alex King Nartey said personnel of the GNFS helped a lot in preventing the spreading of the fire.

“As it stands now we’ve been able to put the fire under control. Upon the arrival of our personnel, our priority was to ensure that the nearby houses and the church were contained from the fire.”

According to him, they suspect an electrical fault as the source of the fire and added that an investigation is underway to unravel the main cause of the incident.

He also advised the general public against indiscriminate burning, as it is one of the main causes of persistent fire cases in the country.

He also entreated them to stay away from behaviors that distract the personnel of the GNFS during operations.

All efforts to speak to the occupants of the apartment proved futile as the situation rendered them speechless.
