‘Go and make GNPC great again’ – Asantehene to new CEO

The Asantehene, Otumfuor Osei Tutu II, has charged the newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), to do whatever its takes to make the national oil company, great again and restore its glory.

The Asantehene made the comment on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, when the board of directors of GNPC led by the chairman, Freddie Blay, were at the Manhyia Palace to among other things, introduce the new CEO, Joseph A. Dadzie to the King and to also wish him well on his 25th anniversary and his 74th birthday.GNPC CEO Joseph Dadzie meets Asantehene

The Asantehene emphasised that the GNPC is dear to him and the entire country and wishes the Corporation grows in leaps and bounds.

According to the Otumfuor, “GNPC is dear to me and the nation. It is one of the strongest pillars of the country that could help in the development of Ghana”.

The Asantehene noted that, he knew Mr. Joseph Dadzie got frustrated sometime last year and existed the Corporation as a Deputy CEO. He  however, emphasised that President Akufo-Addo’s decision to bring him back to head the national oil  company is a proof that he has what it takes to help the Corporation.GNPC CEO Joseph Dadzie meets Asantehene

The King noted “you got frustrated and left, but the President insisted you return to head GNPC and ensure things work well for us all. This means you must do whatever it takes to make GNPC great again and bring glory to the board and the Corporation,” he noted.

Otumfuor Osei Tutu II said all he requires of the new CEO is to be a unifier, respect the board and work together with them.

“For the board to push that you return to head the corporation means they have seen something good in you”, the Asantehene noted.

He added, “lead GNPC with sincerity and unite everyone there to bring glory to the Corporation”.

Mr. Joseph Dadzie on his part thanked the Asantehene for his leadership and kind counsel. He promised to work with the board, management and staff of the Corporation and ensure the national oil company grows.

He told the Asantehene with him in charge of the Corporation and with support from the board, he will ensure all GNPC funded projects ongoing in the Ashanti Region will be completed.

The board chairman of GNPC, Freddie Blay praised the Asantehene for touching the lives of every Ghanaian with all his initiatives.

He promised GNPC will continue to support the King in all his endeavours.M Blay, on behalf of board, management, and staff of GNPC, wished the Asantehene well on his 25th anniversary and prayed to God to strengthen him for the next chapter of his journey.

He told the Asantehene, the board will be back again to show with pictures and videos all projects GNPC has undertaken in his Kingdom to prove the Corporation’s loyalty to him.

The President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, who is also a board member, praised the Asantehene for the support he gave when he was contesting for the position.GNPC CEO Joseph Dadzie meets Asantehene
