Casting of votes have officially closed at polling centres across the country after 10hours of balloting to elect a new President and 276 Members of the next Parliament.
The Electoral Commission opened the polls at exactly 7am in an exercise that has generally recorded low turnouts by the citizenry.
No one can go to cast their ballots after 5pm except those who were in the queue before 5pm.
The closure heralds counting of ballots and subsequent declaration of the winner of the presidential polls being contested by incumbent Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Dramani Mahama.
Turnout has been generally low in most areas where our correspondent reported from and in some cases, party activists were going from house-to-house to urge people to come out and vote.
The Electoral Commission has until Monday, December 11, 2024, to declare the winner of the presidential elections.
