The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akuapem South in the Eastern Region, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu, has promised to make gender parity a reality in the constituency.

Madam Dziwornu admitted that achieving gender equality in Ghana and her constituency, as part of a national campaign, requires bold decisions, strategic policies, and unwavering dedication.

She expressed her commitment to championing women’s empowerment by supporting policies that uplift women and collaborating with stakeholders to make gender equality a reality in Akuapem South.

“Today, we stand with the world in celebrating International Women’s Day under the theme ‘Accelerate Action.’ This theme serves as a powerful reminder that words alone are not enough—achieving gender equality requires bold decisions, strategic policies, and unwavering dedication.”

To the legislature, the acceleration needed to empower women must be done “economically, promote equal leadership, invest in girls’ education and protect women’s rights.”

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP, who ended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) dominance in Akuapem South, said she would roll out policies to resource women in Akuapem South.

“As Member of Parliament for Akuapem South, I remain committed to championing women’s empowerment, supporting policies that uplift women, and collaborating with stakeholders to make gender equality a reality in Akuapem South and across Ghana,” she pointed out.
