Gyaasehene of Gomoa Wassa appeals for establishment of College of Education

The Gyaasehene of Gomoa Wassa, Nana Kwasi Okyeahene, has appealed to the government and the Minister of Education to establish a  college of education in Gomoa, with the aim of increasing school enrolment in the area.

According to the Gyaasehene, Gomoa currently lacks a teacher training college to cater to the educational needs of its youth after they complete Senior High School (SHS).

He emphasised that many students are compelled to undertake long journeys to pursue further education elsewhere.

Nana Kwasi articulated that the establishment of a training college would not only enhance educational opportunities but also invigorate local economic activities.

He believes that this initiative would encourage the people of Gomoa to place a greater emphasis on education.

He expressed these sentiments following his swearing-in at the Gomoa Assin Traditional Council, where he urged both the chiefs and the residents of Gomoa Wassa to unite in their quest for development, thereby uplifting the prospects of the Gomoa communities.

“I wish we can have a Tertiary School in Gomoa here; it’ll help. When we force and get a training college or nursing school, I will be happy so we’ll work hard to ensure that we move forward to bring a nursing college.

“My biggest fear here is that there are conflicts everywhere, and this is my worry. If I was given the privilege, this community would have had a swimming pool,” Nana Kwasi added.

In support of these aspirations, the Protocol Chief of the Gomoa Assin Traditional Council, Nana Kow Arkoh Ansah V, also urged the people of Gomoa Wassa to rally behind their leadership to facilitate development in the community.
