Hundreds of women in the Akuapem South Municipality in the Eastern Region will receive a special Mother’s Day treat, with a free health screening exercise organised by the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Lawrencia Adwoa Dziwornu.

The women will undergo examinations for various ailments to assess their health conditions for on-the-spot treatment or medical recommendations.

The MP’s Mother’s Day free health screening, scheduled for Sunday, May 11, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., will be held at the Aburi Presbyterian Women’s College of Education (PWCE) Auditorium.

According to the MP, this initiative supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 3 & 5), which promote good health, well-being, and gender equality in the Akuapem South Municipality.

“I’m inviting all mothers in Akuapem South to a special celebration with free health screening, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for women’s healthcare and empowerment,” Mrs. Dziwornu stated.

She added that her motivation for organising the exercise was to ensure that mothers are honoured with “love and care” on the occasion of this year’s Mother’s Day celebration.

“Together, we’re building a healthier and stronger Akuapem South—one mother at a time,” the Akuapem South lawmaker emphasised.
