CJ Suspension: Committee probing petitions begins hearings today, May 15

The committee set up by President John Dramani Mahama to inquire into the three petitions filed against the Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo is set to commence its hearings today, Thursday, May 15, 2025.

The five-member committee chaired by Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang, was constituted in accordance with Article 146(6) of the 1992 constitution.

It follows consultation with the Council of State and a determination of a prima facie case against the Chief Justice.

According to a government statement, the committee is scheduled to convene three times each week and submit its recommendations to the President upon the conclusion of its work.
