Police arrest suspect over murder of UEW Lecturer

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested Joshua Karry Arthur in connection with the murder of a Senior Lecturer from the University of Education, Winneba.

The suspect was apprehended on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Essoukyir in the Central Region.

The lecturer had been reported missing on May 21 by his colleagues, who informed police that all attempts to reach him had failed. Officers proceeded to the lecturer’s residence, where the suspect was found and arrested.

During the investigation, police discovered blood stains that led them to a heap of sand approximately 23 metres from the house. Upon clearing the sand, a body believed to be that of the missing lecturer was found buried.

The body was recovered and deposited at the morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Items retrieved from the suspect include two Samsung phones, a laptop, a 50-inch television, and a car key to a Toyota Fortuner, all confirmed to be the property of the deceased.

The suspect is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations, and will be arraigned before court.
