Students advised to connect with mentors in their dream careers

The Acting Registrar of the Health Facilities Regulatory Agency (HeFRA), Dr. Winfred Korletey Baah, has urged students in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality to cultivate closer relationships with professionals in their dream careers, as this can significantly shape their futures.

In an interview with the media during the ‘8th Edition’ of the Career Seminar held in Agormanya, Dr. Baah expressed concern that many students often hesitate to approach individuals within their communities who are working in their desired professions, such as nurses and soldiers, for guidance.

Mr. Baah described this reluctance as worrying in the country.

According to him, such professionals can serve as invaluable mentors, offering essential advice on career paths, industry trends, and the skills required to succeed.

“This seminar is aimed at guiding them in their career pathways to know what to do. Most of the time, people want to pursue a particular profession, maybe someone wants to be a doctor, but they don’t know how to go about it.

Dr. Baah“So this seminar teaches them about what they want to do. We’re showing them the way to follow, and this is what we imparted to them.

“And what I want to say is that you don’t have to give up on what you want to become; make sure you go after it. If you need help, talk to someone.

“Maybe you want to be a nurse, and there is someone in your family or your community, go and talk to that person. If you wish to become a soldier, just ask, but don’t give up.

“There are numerous opportunities out there, but you need to engage with someone, and they’ll help you,” he advised.

Dr. Baah emphasised that networking with these individuals not only opens doors to job opportunities but also provides practical, real-world insights into their professions.

He encouraged students to associate with such mentors to secure a brighter future.
