Trader in court over Gh¢73,500 visa fraud, using fake ‘Doctor’ title

A 30-year-old Trader, Fredrick Papa Ekow Assifuah who is alleged to be a fake doctor, has been charged with eight counts of willfully and falsely using the Title Dr. contrary to section 48(b) of the health professions and regulatory bodies Act 2013,ACT 857, profession to practice medicine without being registered and three charges of defrauding by false pretense.

The complainants in this case are Genevieve Appau Tete, Sandra Boateng and Sandra Ewuradwoa Arhin.

Accused PERSON, Fredrick Papa EKow Assifuah is a resident of Kasoa Crispo City. The National Police Intelligence Directorate intercepted an intelligence that the accused person was posing as a medical doctor online to basically lure ladies, have intimate relationship with them and thereafter collect monies from them under the pretext of securing travelling documents for them to travel abroad.

On 06/ 06/2025 at about 1530 hours suspect was spotted and arrested at his hideout at Kasoa Crispo city when he planned a meeting with another victim. Accused was found dressed in a white lab coat, with stethoscopes around his neck professing to be a medical doctor, the accused person led Police to his house and a search conducted in his room revealed exhibits to wit, a pair of scissors, three (3) drips. five(5) syringes, two (2)sample bottles, one (1) plaster, five (5) bottles of canine distemper adenovirus type 2 para flucenza para virus vaccines, one Ghanaian passport No.G554 36468 bearing the name Genevieve Appau and cash the sum of GHC 8,500.00 were retrieved.

During interrogation the accused confirmed that he demanded and collected cash sum of GHC8,000.00, GHC25,000.00 and GHC2000.00 from Genevieve Appau Tete, Sandra Boateng and Sandra Ewuradwoa Arhin respectively under the pretext of securing travelling visa to Europe and America but failed.

Investigations again revealed that the accused person through same modus succeeded in collecting GH1,500.00 from Elizabeth Dadzie under the pretext of securing her visa to  travel to France but failed to deliver on his promise. After investigation, the accused person was charged with the offences to appear before this honourable Court.

The court will adjudicate the case tomorrow.
