Cape Coast: One dead in UCC pile-up

Must Read

One person died from an accident involving a tipper truck, two saloon cars, and pragya (tricycle) at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) first gate on the Elmina highway stretch in Cape Coast.

The tipper truck, which was transporting sand and coming from the Elmina-Coast direction, ran over the vehicles. A male passenger seated in a Nissan Sentra saloon car was tragically killed, while his driver sustained injuries.

Other occupants of the various cars are currently receiving treatment at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital.

According to eyewitness accounts, the accident was attributed to the tipper truck driver’s negligence, as he appeared to be distracted while driving.

“Because of the bridge, we stand here and check if there’s no moving car coming, then we cross it straight, and when we’re coming too, we do the same thing to cross the road.

“The Pragya was parked, and the private car was also parked beside it.

“The tipper truck, I don’t know if the driver was looking somewhere but all of a sudden, the tipper truck started moving over… and hit the private car, which then collided with the Pragya,” he explained.
