A suspected thief has been lynched by an angry mob in Esaso, in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
The incident happened on Friday, November 7, 2025, with the deceased’s body found in a gutter.
Two tricycles said to belong to the suspect were also burnt.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect and four others tried to steal building materials from a construction site but were caught by local youth.
The four escaped and the one caught was subjected to mob violence and later found dead.
Residents are concerned about the rising armed robbery and theft cases, believing the lynching was a response to serve as a deterrent to others.
“The youth are already agitated over the recent armed robbery cases in the area, and so I’m sure they must have done this to send a strong warning to the thieves,” a resident said.
The police is yet to respond to the incident.
