Deputy Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jennifer Queen, has criticised Chief Justice nominee, Paul Baffoe-Bonnie over his remarks on the hardened criminal Atta Ayi’s sentence during the vetting process.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, she stated that the Acting Chief Justice did not act appropriately during his submissions in the vetting process.
She added that he should not have explained his reasons for sentencing Atta Ayi to 70 years, as it could lead to public misconceptions and comments.
“He should not have explained wanting to sentence Ataa Ayi to 70 years in prison because people will draw a different meaning to his communication,” she pointed out.
She emphasized that once a statement is made, it is particularly difficult to retract due to the position held, leading public reactions and comment involved.
“Your work as being in the judicial will now be questioned because of one little statement made,” she reiterated.
Ms. Queen’s concern was that the Chief Justice should have maintained professionalism and adhered to the constitution in his submission in the vetting process.
