Newly appointed Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz says he is embracing his role with deep gratitude, responsibility, and humility.

He described his appointment as a mission to serve Ghana’s talent, pride, and footballing soul ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Queiroz said this in a statement to Ghanaians following his appointment on Monday, April 13, 2026.

The Portuguese trainer, in his message, promised to give everything, calling the job a mission rather than just a contract.

“It is with a deep sense of gratitude to the GFA, responsibility, and humility that I embrace this new chapter with the National Football Team of Ghana. Football has given me a lifetime of challenges, lessons, and unforgettable journeys all over the world.

“Today, I accept this mission with the same passion and commitment that have guided me throughout my career. Ghana is a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul,” he said.

The former Manchester United assistant manager hinted that his arrival is marked by respect for its history and belief in its future.
