Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Amenfi Central, Engineer George Kofi Arthur, has officially declared his bid to contest for the position of Western Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to him, his mission is to move the party from addition to multiplication by strengthening structures, boosting unity, and ending all forms of discrimination within the NDC in the region.
He pledged to empower women, youth, polling station agents, and vulnerable groups, with special focus on pioneer NDC elders who laid the foundation of the party.
In a statement officially announcing his bid on Saturday, April 18, 2026, Engineer Arthur vows to transition the NDC and to also drive it forward in the West.
He would be expected to pick up his nomination form when nominations are officially open.
When elected to assume the Chairmanship role, he will succeed incumbent Chairman Nana Kojo Toku.
Youth Support
The supporters of the NDC describe him as “the youth investor” and a bridge between party executives and the grassroots.
He says he is poised to drive the NDC forward in the West.
About George Kofi Arthur
As a native of Wassa Agona Amenfi in the Western Region, he served as MP for Amenfi Central from 2005 to 2017.
A teacher, engineer, and construction expert by profession, he held key parliamentary roles during his tenure and is known for his strong grassroots ties.
