The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has announced that Ghana has a new Country Manager for the African Development Bank (AfDB), Halima H. Hashi, a distinguished Tanzanian official.
In a welcoming ceremony on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, Mr. Ablakwa expressed Ghana’s great respect and deep appreciation for the impact the AfDB has had on the country’s development since opening its Ghana office in 1973.
He thanked the AfDB for supporting flagship government projects including the Big Push, Feed Ghana, Eastern Corridor Road, AI initiatives, and Irrigation interventions.

Ghana acknowledges the AfDB’s current investment portfolio of about US$1.3 billion in active projects.

Mr. Ablakwa assured that President John Mahama will continue to offer guidance as the African Union Champion for African Financial Institutions, pursuing financial sovereignty and retention of African reserves to finance Africa’s infrastructure deficit.

The Minister extended a warm Ghanaian welcome to Ms. Hashi, wishing her a successful and transformative tenure as Country Manager.
