A fire incident has been reported at Ghana Grid Company’s (GRIDCo) Akosombo Substation, causing disruption in operations and power generation, affecting power supply in parts of Eastern Region.

According to a statement issued by GRIDCo on Thursday, April 23, 2026, emergency response teams have been deployed to assess the situation and initiate immediate remedial actions to restore normal operations.

GRIDCo is evaluating the impact and working to stabilize the system and minimize disruptions.

GRIDCo urges the public to remain calm, assuring the situation is under control, with further updates to be provided as more information becomes available.
