Former Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo has pushed back claims that the Kristo Asafo Mission dispute is about her seeking church leadership or inheritance.

According to her, it is about enforcing constitutional amendments directed by her late father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

In a statement issued on Friday, July 3, Ms Safo said the 2024 amendments removed Israel Kwadwo Safo as head of the church and named her head of the Kantanka Family in February 2025.

“On his death bed, my dad instructed me to ensure that this provision was expressly upheld, and I consider it my duty and responsibility to honour that directive as his first child,” she stated.

She linked the public speculation to what she described as an assassination attempt on her life on Sunday, June 21, 2026. Ms Safo said bullets were fired at her that morning and called it a distressing experience as a mother of two.

“No one should ever have to live under the threat of violence or intimidation, most especially, a woman standing firm in her convictions and carrying out the dying wishes and responsibilities bestowed on her,” she said.

Ms Safo also denied seeking personal gain from her father’s estate, describing herself as “self made.”

She added that Apostle Safo left a valid will outlining how his estate and inheritance should be administered, and that it will be executed once formally read.

She expressed concern over what she called a lack of urgency in pursuing the perpetrators, saying the incident raises questions about public safety and the protection of women in Ghana.

Ms Safo said her goal is justice for her late father, her family, the Kristo Asafo Church, and for all Ghanaians.

“Justice must not only exist in principle. It must be seen, felt, and experienced by all,” she asserted.
