The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the government has secured at least 120 job opportunities for Ghanaians being evacuated from South Africa due to the rising xenophobic tensions.

Minister of the sector, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, shared this information in a notice on his Facebook account on Monday, June 1, 2026.

“So far, we have secured 120 job opportunities from patriotic Ghanaian business owners,” he stated.

The Minister urged Ghanaian Chief Executive Officers and entrepreneurs to support the Jobs Initiative for the returnees.

“We invite Ghanaian CEOs and entrepreneurs who are interested in employing Ghanaians returning from South Africa to contact the Delivery Unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.”

He noted that this initiative is being coordinated by the Ministry’s Delivery Unit, led by Ambassador Alexander Grant Ntrakwa.

According to him, this job drive is part of the government’s support for victims of the xenophobic attacks to ensure their reintegration into the local economy.

“Be part of this noble project. We value and cherish all our citizens,” said Mr. Ablakwa.

It is worth mentioning that 300 Ghanaians returned to the country last week while the government continues its efforts to evacuate others.

Meanwhile, the government has issued a travel advisory warning citizens against non-essential travel to South Africa until further notice.
