The Queen Mother of the Asona Nyadupon Royal Family, Nana Adjoa Gyedu II, has warned the youth that hard drugs will destroy their future and rob them of their strength.
She has therefore urged young people to prioritise their future over substance abuse, cautioning that drug abuse strips them of their vigour and steals the bright future ahead of them.

Speaking to reporters at the 200th anniversary celebration of the Odokyiman Odwira Festival, she said: “Drug abuse strips young people of their strength and steals the bright future ahead of them.”
The revered traditional leader pleaded with the youth to abstain completely from illicit drugs and channel their energies into personal development and community building.

She stressed that the youth have a crucial role to play in national development and cautioned that no quick thrill from hard drugs is worth sacrificing their long-term well-being and success.
Explaining the significance of the festival, Nana Adjoa Gyedu II said Odwira symbolises thanksgiving, love, togetherness, and prosperity.

She added that it is also a time to purify the community, cleanse the spiritual path, renew individual and collective alignment, pay homage to past chiefs and ancestors, seek protection, and honour heritage.
