The Ghana Police has appealed to the public to assist the outfit with information on the daylight robbery at Korle-Bu–Adedenkpo in the Greater Accra Region which led to the death of Police officer and a civilian.
Angelonline.com.gh reported that the armed Policeman was providing security for the bullion van which was carting money to an unknown bank when upon reaching the Korle-Bu–Adedenkpo road was accosted by the six robbers.
The van carrying an unknown amount of cash was trailed by some men in a taxi and on a motorbike popularly called ‘okada’.
The armed robbers numbering about six in number after shooting the armed officer in the head also injured the driver in the hand. Two other tellers who were in the vehicle however escaped unhurt.
An eye witness who was hiding in a provision store at the scene of the incident was also shot dead.
Commenting on the robbery incident which has since shocked many, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) said the Police have commenced investigations into the incident.
She however appealed to members of the public to assist the Police with information that would enhance their investigations.
