An unidentified Policeman and a bystander were shot dead during a daylight robbery on a bullion van at Timber Market in Accra.
According to reports that reached Angelonline.com.gh, the armed Policeman was providing security for the bullion van which was carting money to an unknown bank when upon reaching the Korle Bu – Adedenkpo road was accosted by the six robbers.
The van carrying an unknown amount of cash was trailed by some men in a taxi and on a motorbike popularly called ‘okada’.
The robbers, according to eye witnesses started firing indiscriminately after shooting the Police officer in the head in the populated Accra suburb.
The eye witness, it was gathered further was shot by the robbers upon suspicion that she has seen the robbers and might help with investigations into the robbery.
The driver is receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital while the dead have been taken to the Police Hospital for preservation and autopsy.
The riffle of the deceased police officer and the unspecified amount of money were also taken away.
