Pius Hadzide takes over as new CEO of National Youth Authority
The President, Nana Akufo-Addo has appointed former Deputy Information Minister, Pius Enam Hadzide to act as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Youth Authority (NYA) with immediate effect.
Mr. Pius Hadzide takes over from his predecessor, Mr. Sylvester Tetteh, who currently represents the people of Bortianor-Ngleshie-Amanfro constituency as their legislator in the nation’s 8th Parliament under the fourth republic.
Prior to his appointment, Pius Enam Hadzide played a key role in President Akufo-Addo’s first administration as a Deputy Information Minister working with Kojo Oppong Nkrumah as the head.
He also served as a Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports under the same presidency.
The ex-deputy Information Minister had earlier indicated, in a Citi News interview, that he is ever ready to serve in any capacity in the president’s second term should he be given the opportunity.
ABOUT NYA
The National Youth Authority (NYA) was established in 1974 by NRDC 241. It is thus, a Statutory Public Organization with the mandate to co-ordinate and facilitates youth empowerment activities in Ghana to ensure development of the Ghanaian the youth as a whole.
However, the Authority was formerly known as “the National Youth Council (NYC).
The Authority’s main objectives are to advocate, facilitate and ensure the mainstream of youth development issues into national development frameworks, plans and programmes in all sectors.
Also, NYA coordinates promotion of youth participation and acquisition of universal ethics in electoral democracy and governance.
