The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has established a “No vaccination, No entry” policy for spectators ahead of the start of the 2021/2022 Ghana Premier League season.
The No vaccination, No entry is a requirement policy for all supporters of 12 years and above to show proof of negative rapid test for at least 48hours before attending matches at all league centers on matchdays.
The new season commences today, Friday 29, 2021 with newly promoted side Accra Lions hosting Elimina Sharks at the Accra Sports Stadium.
With this directive, the President of Ghana’s football governing body, Mr. Kurt Okraku has stated that the GFA will partner the Ghana government through the Health Ministry to ensure that footballing fans have their COVID-19 jabs before they are allowed entry to various stadia in the country.
He made the announcement when delivering a speech at the 27th Normal Session of Congress on Thursday, October 28, 2021, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
“We are engaging government to ensure we have more fans accessing our games but one of the key requirements will be the need for all of us to ensure we are vaccinated to be able to access football.”
“So what that means is that all our players and staff will be vaccinated. Indeed that process has started, and all football fans who will want to access our games live at the various stadia, must prove they have received vaccination” Mr. Kurt Okraku noted.
Stressing much on admitting fans, the GFA president indicated that the stadium allocation for spectators has been increased from 20% to 25% compared to last season.
