The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has sacked Black Stars head coach, Milovan Rajevac following the team’s abysmal performance in the ongoing 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Ghana suffered a humiliating group-stage exist at the 2021 AFCON after the four-time champions were beaten 3-2 by newcomers Comoros.
The decision to dismiss the Serbian from his post comes less than 12 hours after the Sports Ministry ordered GFA in an emergency meeting on Friday, January 21, 2022, to review the work and capacity of the technical team of the Black Stars.
The meeting was keenly centered on reviewing the Black Stars disastrous campaign at the AFCON and their preparations amid the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup playoffs.
However, a release from the Sports Ministry and signed by the sector Minister, Mustapha Ussif, affirmed to the footballing Association how the trust repose in the technical team has been lost by the general public.
“The Ministry made it clear to the GFA that the people of Ghana have lost confidence in the capacity of the current technical team of the Black Stars to deliver success.”
The Ministry also assured Ghanaians that it will take decision in the best interest of the country with the ultimate goal of “improving the performance and competitiveness of our National teams.”
Meanwhile the head of sports of Accra-based Angel FM, Saddick Adams known as Sports Obama has reported that, the Serbian, who supposed to be paid three months compensation salary in lieu has rejected the offer.
