Reigning Ghanaian champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, has withdrawn their participation in the upcoming Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) top six tournament.

The decision was officially announced by the club on its official Twitter page.

They cited sporting reasons behind their decision and hence formally communicated to GHALCA.

“We have this afternoon written officially to GHALCA, informing the welfare body of our decision not to partake in this year’s Ghalca Top Six tournament.

“Our decision was purely based on sporting reasons,” parts of a statement on the Twitter page of Asante Kotoko reads.

🚨 𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐁 𝐍𝐎𝐓𝐈𝐂𝐄

We have this afternoon written officially to GHALCA, informing the welfare body of our decision not to partake in this year’s Ghalca Top Six tournament.
Our decision was purely based on sporting reasons.

The withdrawal comes barely 24 hours after the resignation of coach Prosper Nartey Ogum as head coach of the club.
