A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team, Alhaji Nasiru Haruna has raised concerns over the missing Biometric Verification Devices (BVDs) at the offices of the Electoral Commission (EC) of Ghana.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), he reiterated the NDC’s stance on the matter, highlighting their previous press conference where they called on the EC to come clear on the missing machines, particularly the BVDs.
While the EC has denied reports of the devices being missing, attributing it to a technical issue with a computer, Alhaji Nasiru expressed skepticism, suggesting that some BVDs may indeed be missing.
He questioned the potential implications of missing BVDs on the upcoming election, emphasizing the importance of security measures in EC offices and the responsibility to safeguard electoral equipment.
Alhaji Nasiru raised concerns about the vulnerability of the electoral process if BVDs were to go missing, citing the risk of manipulation and potential conflicts during the election. He emphasized the interconnectedness of the BVDs with the electoral process, highlighting their coded programming and the potential for unauthorized access to compromise the integrity of the election.
Alhaji Nasiru emphasized the need for accountability and heightened security measures to prevent any potential manipulation or theft of crucial electoral equipment, urging the EC to address these concerns effectively to ensure a fair and transparent election process.
