The Director of Communications for Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has responded to claims made by former President John Dramani Mahama that the NPP deliberately scheduled their media engagement to divert attention from the NDC’s manifesto.

In his response, Mr. Aboagye argued that, if the NDC’s manifesto contained anything of significance, Ghanaians would have discussed it regardless of the NPP’s media encounter held the day after the NDC’s manifesto launch.

In a social media post, Aboagye remarked, “Very petty. If your manifesto is empty, it’s empty. No one needs to do anything to overshadow it. If it’s a serious manifesto, Ghanaians would discuss it for years. Who takes a manifesto that promises to keep nightclubs open 24 hours seriously? Who takes a manifesto that suggests people should queue at 2 am for passports seriously? Or one that proposes having three chief directors at a ministry to run shifts?

“When did you announce your manifesto launch? Was it your intention to do so a week after we launched ours to overshadow it? You’ve been an opposition leader for eight years, and it’s been over a year and a half since Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia was elected. Yet, you waited for him to announce the date for his manifesto launch, then immediately decided to hold yours six days after. Was it your idea to overshadow his launch?

“Of course, we knew you wanted to copy his manifesto, but it’s now clear your second strategy was to overshadow his launch. You chose to campaign in Accra today, knowing Dr. Bawumia was campaigning there yesterday. Are you in Accra today to overshadow the campaign he did yesterday? Is that your strategy?

“Instead of using your time to explain your lifeless ideas, you’re here complaining about something trivial. Let’s stop being petty and get serious.”
