The New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Isaac Appaw-Gyasi, has urged Ghanaians not to allow a tie in the upcoming 2024 elections.
According to him, Ghana’s democracy is still young compared to America’s, which has over 300 years of experience in strategizing complex issues within its parliament.
He stated, “Ghana’s democracy is about 30 years old, and Ghanaians should not vote for a tie again in elections. When voting, they should support NPP parliamentarians massively to avoid a situation where the president lacks a majority in parliament.”
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show on October 22, 2024, he added that if the Speaker of Parliament does not receive proper advice and continues on his current path, he risks bringing disgrace to Ghanaians and hindering the country’s progress.
According to him, the Speaker of parliament should not rush to take a position but should prioritize the interests of Ghana.
The MCEs gave the advice when commenting on the ongoing tension in parliament over who becomes the majority sides.
