Former Central Regional National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) Director, Joe Donkor has stated that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) lost the 2024 election due to their foolishness.
According to Joe Donkor, the NPP lost the election not because their governance was poor, but due to their own mistakes.
He pointed out that the ruling NPP government has achieved more than any other government in Ghana.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, he noted that some regional chairmen were sowing seeds at church, which was broadcast live on television, while polling station executives had not even paid their children’s school fees.
In his view, this kind of attitude cannot win elections; hence, they caused their own downfall in this year’s election.
Joe Donkor further explained that the NPP, as a political party, does not accept the truth when it is presented to them.
According to him, at one point, the party leaders became too arrogant and stopped listening to advice. He stated that when they speak the truth to the leaders of the party, that is when they begin to be disliked by them.
“During our campaign, we all know that Kennedy Agyapong and Dr. Bawumia contested in the NPP primaries, which Dr. Bawumia won. After Kennedy Agyapong’s speech, that was the time to win more souls at the national rally. Instead, they played a song against him, which did not make sense, not even a gospel song, which did not help the party to win,” he explained.
Joe Donkor further argued that the actions from the national level and the presidency have destroyed the NPP, and supporters of the party should understand this. According to him, now is the time to come together and reset the party to its normal state, which could help bring the party back into power.
He stated, “We have lost the election, and there is nothing we can do about it, but this does not mean that the NPP government did not perform well. More roads have been built under this NPP government, but this does not put money in people’s pockets.”
