The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has assured the people of Bawku that one of his top priorities is to work tirelessly to restore peace in the area.

During a visit to Bawku Tuesday, January 14, 2025, following his meeting with the heads of security in Accra, the President expressed his commitment to ensuring lasting peace in the region.

He recalled that during his previous tenure as President, Bawku and its surroundings enjoyed peace, with normal activities progressing smoothly until he lost to the NPP.

President Mahama lamented the current situation in Bawku, stating that it is disheartening that residents have been unable to sleep peacefully and live without stress.

He emphasized that his government’s priority is to restore peace so that residents can return to their daily lives without fear or harassment.

“During the campaign, I stated that if God granted our desire and I was elected president, bringing peace to Bawku was going to be one of my number one priorities.

“So today is exactly one week when I was sworn in at the Black Star Square and it’s my first major assignment outside Accra and I decided to come and assure you that we are going to work very hard to make sure that we bring peace back to Bawku.”
