Ghana to participate in 2025 AI for Good Global Summit in Switzerland

Ghana’s push for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education, Robotics education, and Skilled education has received a significant boost after securing a place in the upcoming Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Good Global Summit in May 2025.

The summit, scheduled for May 2025, in Geneva, Switzerland, will serves as an international platform to bring together winning teams from around the world to showcase their solutions and engage with global experts in AI, robotics, and sustainability.

Ghana’s qualification was secured at the Academic City University on Saturday, March 22, by an Accra-based School, My Redeemer School – a Second Cycle and Basic School.

The event brought together some of the most talented young robotics teams from across the country in a dynamic, high-stakes competition. The national challenge was organized by The MakersPlace under the auspices of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the United Nations’ AI for Good initiative.

The 2025 edition focused on disaster response, tasking teams with designing and programming robotic solutions to address real-world emergencies while contributing to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

My Redeemer School’s robotics team – both its Senior and Junior Teams took the first place in their respective categories after earning an impressive double victory at the AI for Good – Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Ghana Edition.

They competed against strong contenders, including Adisadel College, Koforidua Secondary Technical School, and other top schools, ultimately impressing judges with their AI-powered robotics solutions.

Their projects featured intelligent automation designed for early disaster detection, search-and-rescue missions, and post-disaster logistics support, combining technical excellence with a deep sense of purpose.

As national champions, Redeemer Tech has qualified for the Global Grand Finale. Their success reflects a long-term investment in STEM education.

Speaking on the national exercise, Founder & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of The MakersPlace, Douglas Ayitey, explained that this year’s competition showcased the creativity and skill of students across Ghana.

“The level of innovation we witnessed is truly inspiring. As National Organizer of the Robotics for Good Youth Challenge Ghana Edition, we are proud to see young Ghanaians stepping up to solve global challenges with technology,” he observed

The 2025 Ghana Edition of the Robotics for Good Challenge was open to all students and teams eager to apply their knowledge in AI and robotics to solve the pressing challenge of disaster response.
