The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Dr. Randy Abbey, has announced that a new cocoa farmgate price will be revealed in August 2025.

He stated that this price is anticipated to exceed that of the Ivory Coast, Ghana’s neighbouring cocoa-producing country.

Dr. Abbey confirmed that the government is poised to unveil this new cocoa producer price in August.

The CEO emphasised that this pricing strategy is designed to bolster the livelihoods of Ghanaian cocoa farmers by offering a more competitive rate than that of the Ivory Coast.

According to him, this initiative underscores Ghana’s commitment to enhancing the well-being of its cocoa farmers and solidifying its position in the global cocoa market.

His comments came during a working visit to several cocoa farmers and COCOBOD staff in the Western North Region.

“President Mahama’s vision is to help farmers to benefit, and I can assure you that this year’s season we’re expecting to announce it on August 25 or 26.

“When we open it in August, we will provide the new producer price, and this new producer price will be more than what Côte D’Ivoire has offered,” he assured farmers.

However, during his visit to the Sehwi Boako cocoa station in the Sehwi Wiawso Municipality, the CEO expressed concerns about a heap of cocopeat left to rot at the office.
