Actor and producer, Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as Liwin, through his production house Weezy Empire, has issued a strong warning to Abrempong TV for illegally broadcasting his latest film, A Country Called Ghana, without authorization.
In a legal notice addressed to the General Manager of Abrempong TV, solicitors for Weezy Empire demanded that the station cease and desist from all unauthorized broadcasting of the film. The letter further stated that several broadcasts of the movie had been confirmed with video evidence, describing the act as a blatant case of copyright infringement under Ghanaian law.
According to the notice, the illegal broadcast not only violated Weezy Empire’s intellectual property rights but also caused substantial commercial loss and damage.
The legal team is demanding that Abrempong TV pays One Million Ghana Cedis (GH₵1,000,000.00) as compensation for the unauthorized use, broadcast, and infringement of copyright.
The letter further warned that failure to comply within 14 days will result in legal proceedings being instituted against the station. In addition to damages for breach of intellectual property rights, Weezy Empire will also seek recovery of litigation costs.
On 10 September 2025, Lilwin also took to his official Instagram page to reinforce the warning, stating:
No Authorization, No Broadcast! WEEZY EMPIRE will not tolerate the illegal airing of A Country Called Ghana or any of our productions. Unauthorized use = Copyright Infringement.”
