District Chief Executive (DCE) of Bosome-Freho Assembly in the Ashanti Region, Charles Appiah Kubi, has issued a 7-day deadline to all small-scale miners to submit their operational licenses to the assembly for verification.
Speaking at an illegal mining strategic meeting, Mr. Kubi directed all mining operators to present their documents within the specified period, in order to promote responsible mining practices.
“From today onwards I have directed them to bring their documents within a week,” he stated on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.
Mr. Kubi added that, as part of the District’s efforts to curb illegal mining, the Assembly has deployed a task force to monitor the activities of miners, and anyone who fails to comply with the rules will be dealt with according to the law.
“The district has established a task force to monitor their activities, so whoever has made up their mind to not follow the rules will be arrested,” he disclosed.
He emphasized that, mining activities within water bodies, forest reserves, and along major roads remain prohibited; therefore, miners should adhere strictly to the established rules.
“We have rules for small scale miners to follow including, covering pits they dig out and not destroy forests, water bodies and roads,” Mr. Kubi said.
However, members of the Small-Scale Miners Association promised to follow the guidelines and support responsible mining activities within the district.
